NUG@NAF: An Evening of Network Innovation

On Thursday, November 21st, following the fourth day of the Autocon2 conference, the US Networking Users Association (USNUA) and the Network Automation Forum (NAF) team collaborated to host an extraordinary after-hours social event at the Church Ranch Event Center. This exclusive gathering brought together approximately 280 network professionals, creating a unique space for deeper conversations and meaningful connections.

The highlight of the evening was "The Great Debate" - a spirited and engaging discussion that captured the attention of every attendee. Mitch Vaughan and Chris Kane took center stage, presenting compelling arguments in a head-to-head debate focusing on two critical network architecture approaches: L2LS versus EVPN.

The debate was more than just a technical discussion; it was a dynamic exploration of network design philosophies. Attendees were not mere spectators but active participants, given the opportunity to vote for the side they found most convincing. The results were remarkably close, reflecting the nuanced nature of network design:

  • EVPN: 49%
  • L2LS: 51%

The narrow margin underscored the complexity of network architecture decisions and the depth of expertise within the community.
